Safer school environments as Lund equips its shelters
Lund Municipality is implementing a major investment in modernizing shelters in schools and after-school centers. The Comfort company Elservice is responsible for the entire process – from inspection and electrical installations to action plans and restoration according to upcoming requirements.
With increased demands in civil defense, the municipality of Lund wants to act early and has begun an extensive review and renovation of the municipality's shelters during the year. Comfortbolaget Elservice has been assigned to inspect and repair the electrical installations at 88 of the municipality's schools and after-school centers - a task with technical complexity and great social benefit. Many of the shelters have been used for a long time in teaching as classrooms, libraries or storage rooms and now need to be equipped so that they can be quickly put into use when needed.
Restoration of shelters with high requirements
To meet current standards and pass upcoming inspections, the rooms need to be able to be converted within 48 hours. This means new, resettable installations, updated electricity, modern fixtures, and fan and filter measures. In some cases, more extensive renovations are also required to ensure function and operational reliability.
At the same time, the premises must function fully in everyday life. Furnishings, cabling and other installations must therefore support both daily operations and the possibility of rapid changeover. All measures are documented by experts and inspected before the rooms are approved. The assignment gives the municipality a clear overview and structured action plans, which creates an important head start in the face of upcoming national requirements.
Overall responsibility and competence building
The project runs from 2025 to 2027 and is operated as a turnkey contract by Elservice. The work is carried out in environments where daily school activities often take place, which places extra demands on coordination – from planning to safe handling of materials, temporary containers and construction work on school grounds. The assignment is unique in its breadth and variety, where each individual shelter requires its own solution, from simple upgrades to more advanced interventions depending on how the premises are used today.
For Comfortgruppen, this is a significant trust. The complexity of the assignment confirms our ability to combine local presence, technical expertise and rapid competence building in an area of social importance. In 2026, the area is a special focus within the group, with the goal of building a nationwide offering in electricity, plumbing and ventilation for future similar projects throughout the country.
About Region South

The region focuses on unique and qualified assignments where competence and delivery reliability are crucial – a strategy that has stood the test of time in a challenging market situation characterized by increased competition and some price pressure. Through the acquisitions of Spindel and Kraft & Montage, the region has strengthened both the electricity side and high-voltage expertise, which opens up new market segments. With conscious project selection, a strengthened business model and a growing position in societal-supporting assignments – including shelters and defense-related infrastructure – the region is well positioned for profitable growth ahead of 2026.
